What are the different ways Tags can be added to contacts?

Tags can be added to contacts in the following ways:

1. While uploading contacts CSV
Go to Contacts tab.
Click on Upload button. A pop up should open.
Select your CSV file that contains all the contacts.
Now choose any number of tags that are present in the dropdown. You can also create new tags.
Click on Upload Contacts button.
All the Contacts will be uploaded and the selected tags will be assigned to each and every contact.
When to use : Use this method of assigning tags when you have a list of contacts in a CSV file and you want to assign the same tag / tags to all the contacts.

2. Adding Tags to individual contacts
Go to Contacts tab.
Click on Add new contact or Edit contact button.
From the tags menu, choose the tag that you want to assign to a particular contact. You can also create new tags.
Save the Contact.
When to use : Use this method when you want to add tag / tags to a single contact.

3. Bulk tagging
Go to Contacts tab.
Select all the contacts that you want to assign tag.
Click on the Add tag button located just above the Contacts table.
Enter the name of the tag that you want to assign to these contacts.
You can assign multiple tags. All the tag names should be comma separated.
When to use : Use this method when you want to assign tag / tags to multiple contacts displayed on the same page.

4. Using Tagging Rules
Go to Settings tab by clicking on the gear icon located on the top right corner.
On the left pane, click on Tagging Rules.
Here you can define a rule for adding a tag to contacts based on activity performed, attributes, etc.
Select the appropriate rule and click on Add.
Within a few minutes, the selected tag will be added to all the contacts satisfying the defined rule.
When to use: Use this method when you want to assign specific tags to contacts that fulfill certain criterion like opened email, filled form, browsed website, etc.
