Email Subject lines Framed as Questions Often Perform Better?

We are all programmed to answer questions put to us, no matter what the medium. People just feel obliged to answer questions, or at least consider the question for a moment. Questions make great email subject lines because they get the reader to think about how the subject matter applies to their own life. The best questions will resonate with the reader and their past experiences, while arousing a sense of curiosity to learn more about the subject and whether their experiences are similar to others.

These subjects lines work because the reader can relate to these behaviors, but are also drawn to click-through to possibly learn more about whether others have similar experiences and what the possible implications of that behavior is.

Most good email subject lines rely on a conversationalist tone to attract readers. Asking your subscribers a question, as opposed to a standard statement, immediately engages them because it gives customer something to think about. Your question should be something on almost every customer's mind. Questions enter an instant dialogue with users, making them more likely to be opened.
